Alert: The parking changes originally planned for Spring Quarter 2020 have been rescheduled for December 2020.

Transportation Services is transforming our parking operations with new technology that offers increased flexibility and reliability.  An overview of all the changes is available and details of how this will impact department parking products and ordering are listed below.

Ordering products

There are three ways to order department products:

  • Validation coupons* will continue to be ordered from the current department products ordering form.
  • Arranged parking and coupon codes will be ordered from the arranged parking page. This page does not require a NetID.
  • Reserved stalls, Short-term parking* and Multi-lot permits (formerly U designator) will be ordered by contacting the Transportation Services office at ucommute@uw.edu

*Orders for new validation coupons and short-term parking permits are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously purchased ones can still be used until their expiration date and sales of these products will resume at a later date.

Product change summary

  • Arranged parking: Departments who want to distribute paid parking to visitors before they arrive will now use the arranged parking product instead of Department Commuter Tickets (DCTs). Space in a particular lot is reserved for the day, and specific stalls can be coned off for an additional fee. They must be paid for in advance and there are no refunds if unused.
  • Coupon codes: These are virtual codes that can be used in self-serve parking lots with pay machines. Visitors must enter the code and their license plate into a pay machine upon arrival. Space is not guaranteed in any particular lot; availability is first-come, first-served. Departments can give the same code to multiple visitors and they are only billed after the code has been used. May be billed in two or three-hour increments or at a daily rate for more than three hours. Not available in S01, Central Plaza Garage or Triangle.
  • Department Commuter Tickets are discontinued: Previously purchased tickets will be valid through Dec. 31, 2021.
  • Validation coupons*: The paper coupons will still exist but they will only be valid in S01, Central Plaza Garage and the Triangle Parking Garage. They will continue to be ordered via the department products ordering form.
  • Multi-lot permits (formerly U designator) can be managed on the new online customer portal after initial setup with the Transportation Services office. To manage this, departments will need to create an account for the department using a shared NetID. (If the department does not have a shared NetID, they can request one from UWIT.)
