WSDOT crews plan to close all westbound lanes of SR 520 the night of Thursday, Jan. 13. Additionally, crews will also close the westbound off-ramps in Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood for a series of weekends in January. Please see below for details of each closure.

January 7-10, 21-24 and 28-31 – Westbound SR 520 off-ramps closed in Montlake

On the weekends of January 7–10, Jan. 21–24, and Jan. 28–31, crews plan to close the westbound SR 520 off-ramps to Montlake Boulevard and Lake Washington Boulevard to construct a segment of the new Montlake lid. This work is dependent on availability of materials. Please check the Construction Corner map for confirmation and details.

Between 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday:

  • The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard will be closed.
  • The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Lake Washington Boulevard will be closed.

January 13 – Westbound SR 520 closed overnight

WSDOT will close all lanes of westbound SR 520 across Lake Washington between 92nd Avenue Northeast on the Eastside and I-5 in Seattle on January 13.

Between 10 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. on Friday:

  • All lanes of westbound SR 520 between 92nd Avenue Northeast on the Eastside and I-5 in Seattle will be closed.
  • The on-ramp to westbound SR 520 at 84th Avenue Northeast will be closed.
  • The HOV on-ramp to westbound SR 520 at 108th Avenue Northeast will be closed.
  • The on-ramp to westbound SR 520 from Montlake Boulevard will be closed.

January 21-24 – Montlake Bridge weekend closure

WSDOT scheduled an additional weekend closure to allow their contractor to rebalance the bridge to account for the weight of the bridge deck and new mechanical parts.  

Between 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday: 

  • The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic, with the exception of emergency vehicles.  
  • Pedestrian shuttles will be used when the bridge is in the upright position.  
    • South end pickup/drop-off: southbound Montlake Blvd south of Hamlin Street.  
    • North end pickup/drop-off: near the existing bus stop on westbound NE Pacific Street just west of Montlake Blvd.
