Welcome to Ride in the Rain at the University of Washington. Ride in the Rain challenges you to continue biking through the gloomier and wetter months. From November 1 - 30, team up with your classmates and colleagues and log your rides for a chance to win great prizes! This challenge was born at UW and has grown to become a regional challenge with the help of WA Bikes and Cascade Bicycle Club.
Register for Ride in the Rain
Make new friends, log those miles, and win some sweet prizes. All you need is a bike and helmet! Teams are capped at 10 individuals.
Don’t have a team to join?
Consider starting a departmental or office biking group! Or ask to join one of the many teams registered under the UW organization.
Get a bike buddy
First time biking or participating in the challenge? Get matched with a seasoned bicyclist and fellow Husky who loves to pedal to campus and lives near you. They can show you the best way to bike to campus, share bike commuting tips and become a potential team member!
Light Up the Night
Thursday, November 7
5 – 7 p.m., HUB Patio (in front of the main HUB entrance)
Stock up on bike gear at our Light Up the Night event. Grab bike lights, reflective bracelets and seat covers for your evening ride home.
Coffee Commute Station

8 – 10 a.m., HUB Patio (in front of the main HUB entrance)
Need some extra morning fuel? Join us at our Ride in the Rain Coffee Commute station. Stop by for tea, coffee, and energy bars to help get you through your classes and workday.

Intro to Commuting/Bike Safety
Tuesday, November 5
12 – 1 p.m., Gould Hall 114
Bike commute questions welcome! This interactive lunch-hour talk will address topics such as bike safety, road safety, dressing to stay warm during rainy or cold commutes and other questions participants have. Join us for tips and tricks for riding in the Seattle Rain.
Fixing a flat
Tuesday, November 19
12 – 1 p.m., Gould Hall 142
Learn how to fix a flat tire on your bike. We will discuss tools, why flats happen and step-by-step instructions for fixing flats on human-powered bicycles. Bring your bike if you have one, or just bring yourself. As time permits, instructor can help participants practice changing a tire on their own bikes.
