Fully subsidized U-PASS for eligible employees

The new fully subsidized U-PASS program went into effect on July 1 for eligible employee groups. If you belong to an eligible employee group and your information is correct in Workday, you simply need to tap your Husky Card on any ORCA card reader to activate your U-PASS.

Activate your new fully subsidized U-PASS

To activate your new fully subsidized U-PASS, just tap your Husky card on any ORCA card reader.
On buses - Tap on
On Link light rail and Sounder Trains - Tap on and off

It is important to finalize the activation of your fully subsidized U-PASS within the first 60 days of eligibility.

Protect your new fully subsidized U-PASS

It is important to protect your Husky Card and the U-PASS RFID chip from damage. We encourage you to follow these tips to protect your Husky Card and U-PASS:

  • Do not bend your Husky Card.
  • Do not punch a hole anywhere in your Husky Card.
  • Keep your Husky Card in a protective holder. Scratches to the magnetic strip and RFID chip can damage your card. Accessories to protect your card can be purchased at the Husky Card Account & ID Center.
  • Keep your Husky Card away from all magnets and cell phones.

Service termination

Your fully subsidized U-PASS will become inactive in one of the following scenarios:

  1. You did not tap it on an ORCA card reader in the first 60 days of eligibility.
  2. You activated it on an ORCA card reader initially, but then went 60 days without using the U-PASS.
  3. You changed jobs and your new job classification is not eligible for a fully subsidized U-PASS.
  4. You are leaving the University.

To reactivate your fully subsidized U-PASS (scenario 1 or 2), contact your campus Transportation Services office. If you are at UW Seattle, you can also reactivate your fully subsidized U-PASS online.

In the event that you are still at the University and have become ineligible for the U-PASS (scenario 3), you can still purchase the service through your campus Transportation Services office if you wish to continue it.
