NE Pacific Street sidewalk & crosswalk closed through autumn

One of the three crosswalks from the Montlake Triangle across NE Pacific, will be closed from Monday, April 29 through the end of autumn. The sidewalk in front of the hospital on the south side of NE Pacific Street will also be closed. This closure is necessary to complete work related to the UW Medical Center – Montlake Building Waterproofing and Entrance Upgrade project.

During this extended closure, pedestrian traffic will be rerouted across the street, using the two crosswalks at either end of the Montlake Triangle, as seen in the graphic above.

  • Main route: Pedestrians can get to the hospital by using the east crosswalk to cross the street and following the signs towards the emergency room entrance. This route requires stairs.
  • Accessible route: As the main route approaching the hospital from the east crosswalk includes stairs, those requiring an accessible route without stairs, may enter through the Brotman Baty Surgery Pavilion between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. The route to the hospital from the west crosswalk does not require the use of stairs and is open at all times.
  • Alternate route: The west crosswalk provides another route to the hospital that is open at all times and does not require the use of stairs.
  • Tunnel route: The underground tunnel from the Montlake Triangle parking garage to the hospital will remain open. Escalators on the hospital side are intermittently off due to construction and pedestrians may need to wait for the elevator.
