Vanpool parking rules for the UW Seattle campus are changing. While parking for vanpools remains free, vanpools will no longer be able to park in multiple lots, but instead will need to register with Transportation Services and choose ONE lot to park in

As of Friday, November 1:

  • Vanpools will be assigned a specific parking lot on the UW campus
  • Vanpools must display a parking permit when parked at the UW
  • Failure to do either of these may lead to a citation

These changes are designed to let us better manage the vanpool program and are part of a wider effort to better track utilization of all campus parking lots. Starting in 2020, vanpool registration will be updated annually.

What each vanpool* needs to do

  • Register by Friday, October 11 at https://tinyurl.com/Vanpool-Permit

    • Enter your vanpool group number, the van’s license plate number and a primary point of contact for the van.

    • Pick a first and second choice parking lot. You can see which lots are near your building by viewing our online campus map.

    • Tell us how you want to receive your parking permit. We will send it to a campus mailbox or you can choose to pick it up in person at the Transportation Services office starting on Tuesday, October 22.

  • Starting on Tuesday, October 22, look for an email with your assigned parking lot.

  • Pick up your parking permit and place it in your van.

  • Start parking in your new lot by Friday, November

*Only one person per vanpool needs to fill out the form.

Register your vanpool

All lot assignments will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to demand, some smaller lots will only be available to a limited number of vans. IIf, after registering, you need to change your lot assignment, simply email ucommute@uw.edu and explain the situation. If you have business in a different part of campus than usual, you can also go to any gatehouse and request out-of-area parking.
